This beautiful Rich Black saree has a crème border and Pallav with golden zari fine details. The Rich black body has fine buttis and has kutabham or kutakomma. The elaborate motifs in the Pallav are woven in Zari with an extra weft patterning method.

  • These sarees get their name from city Gadwal which also the headquarters of Jogulamba Gadwal District in the Indian state of Telengana is 200 km from Hyderabad. The Royal Family, viz Somanadri (Somashekar Ananda Reddy) who ruled Gadwal, Wanaparthy and Kothakota extended their patronage and had a role in the evolution of Gadwal Saree. It is believed that the Maharaja of Gadwal sent weavers to Banaras to learn brocade. Although Gadwal sarees have their own distinct weaving and aesthetic quality.
